A shark bitten an 11-year-old boy as he surfed off the coast of North Carolina, authorities reported.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon. The boy was bitten near Fort Macon state park in Atlantic Beach and taken to a local hospital.
According to the Atlantic Beach Fire Chief Adam Snyder, the boy suffered “deep wounds” to his left foot. However, the boy’s injuries were not life-threatening, local station WNCT reported.
Snyder said that, the beach was not closed even after the boy was bitten.
The authorities said that, the boy was the second person bitten by a shark in Atlantic Beach this summer. In June, an 18-year-old suffered bites to his hands and wrist.
