Apple has ceased the sale of several older smartphone models in India to introduce the new iPhone 16e. As part of this transition, the third-generation iPhone SE has been retired to make space for the latest addition, which boasts various enhancements compared to the three-year-old device, such as an A18 chip with Apple Intelligence capabilities and a USB Type-C charging port. Additionally, it seems that the standard iPhone 14 models, which were released in 2022, have been removed from Apple's website in light of the new entry-level device's launch. After the introduction of the iPhone 16e, the previous iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus models appear to have disappeared from the official site. Although these devices can still be found at third-party retailers like Flipkart and Amazon, or in refurbished shops within India, their availability may soon become limited. All these smartphones were initially made available in 2022.
The iPhone SE (2022) debuted in March 2022, starting at a price of Rs. 43,900. In contrast, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were unveiled in September 2022, priced beginning at Rs. 79,900 and Rs. 89,900, respectively. Last year, Apple discontinued the iPhone 15 Pro series as well as the iPhone 13 models following the launch of the iPhone 16 lineup. The company also began phasing out the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE from its online stores across several European nations due to a new law by the European Union that mandates USB Type-C charging compatibility for many devices. Currently, Apple's smartphone range comprises the base iPhone 15 series, the iPhone 16 series, and the newly released iPhone 16e. It is anticipated that the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will also be discontinued once the iPhone 17 series is introduced.
