Prime Minister Narendra Modi met British counterpart Rishi Sunak on Sunday in Japan and discussed the free trade agreement and negotiations. They met in Hiroshima at the G-7 summit and discussed a wide range of aspects. Narendra Modi also met several leaders including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese counterpart Kishida and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. Narendra Modi after his Japan visit reached Papua New Guinea for a key summit on Monday between India and 14 specific countries, a Forum for India- Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC). Prime Minister James Marape welcomed Modi by touching his feet. Narendra Modi was overjoyed by the PM’s gesture and thanked his warm welcome through social media. He wrote, "Reached Papua New Guinea. I am thankful to PM James Marape for coming to the airport and welcoming me. This is a very special gesture which I will always remember. I look forward to boosting India's ties with this great nation during my visit,". This three-nation tour is the first-ever tour for any Indian Prime minister.

Papua New Guinea has a tradition of not welcoming any leader after sunset. But there was a special exception for Narendra Modi and as a special gesture, Prime Minister James Marape personally welcomed him. Besides this, China is making efforts for diplomatic influence to enhance its military.
