The iPhone 16e made its debut on Wednesday, representing Apple's latest entry-level offering from their Cupertino headquarters. This new addition to the iPhone 16 lineup features a 6.1-inch OLED display and is powered by the same advanced A18 chipset. Similar to the iPhone 15 Pro released in 2023 and last year's iPhone 16 series, the 16e includes support for Apple Intelligence capabilities. Additionally, the device is fitted with a 48-megapixel single rear camera and features a programmable Action Button. In India, the starting price for the iPhone 16e is set at Rs. 59,900 for the 128GB model, while options with 256GB and 512GB of storage will cost Rs. 69,900 and Rs. 89,900, respectively. Apple has announced that pre-orders for the iPhone 16e will commence on February 21, with sales starting on February 28. It will be available in Black and White color options.

This newly introduced iPhone 16e operates on iOS 18 and supports dual SIM functionality (Nano+eSIM). The device showcases a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display (with a resolution of 1,170x2,532 pixels), featuring a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 800 nits. For enhanced durability, the screen incorporates Apple’s Ceramic Shield technology.

Equipped with a cutting-edge 3nm A18 chip, which was first introduced with the iPhone 16 in September 2024, the iPhone 16e can accommodate up to 512GB of storage. While Apple typically does not disclose the RAM capacity of its devices, it is likely that this model includes 8GB of RAM to enable support for Apple Intelligence features. The rear camera consists of a 48-megapixel lens with optical image stabilization (OIS), while the front-facing 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera is designed for capturing selfies and facilitating video calls. The phone also contains the necessary sensors for Face ID, replacing the home button with Touch ID found on the third generation of the iPhone SE.

Further features of the iPhone 16e include stereo speakers, 5G and 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS capabilities. It supports Apple's Emergency SOS via satellite feature in designated regions. In a shift from its predecessor, this model is equipped with a USB Type-C port that allows for 18W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging options.
