Indian star cricketer and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly received a relief from the Supreme Court for the request placed by the BCCI to waive off the cooling period in BCCI and the state cricket associations. Sourav Ganguly will continue as the President of BCCI and Jay Shah will be the Secretary of the Board. There are now talks that Sourav Ganguly will contest for the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Jay Shah will take up the President of BCCI. Arun Dhumal will be the new Secretary for BCCI if Jay Shah turns the President. As per the rules, the administrators will have to go through a cooling-off period after serving two terms in a row.

It is heard that Sourav Ganguly will contest for ICC Chairman post in November. Greg Barkley is the current President and his tenure comes to an end in October. The ICC would head for elections. Greg Barkley was quite interested to continue as the ICC President for the next two years during the annual conference that took place in Birmingham. As per the recent proposal, the candidate who wins with 51 percent of the votes will be elected as the new President and there is no longer a two-third majority needed. Out of the 16-member board, a candidate needs nine votes from the directors. Sourav Ganguly will resign as the BCCI President if he gets elected for the ICC President's role. Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar are the four Indians who served as ICC Presidents in the past.
