The launch of the iPhone 17 series in September of the previous year has greatly boosted Apple's profits. During its recent earnings call, the company from Cupertino announced that it achieved a record revenue of $143.8 billion. Although iPhone sales were the main contributor to this revenue, Apple's services like Apple TV and Apple Music also reached unprecedented highs. The Cupertino company shared its earnings for the first quarter of 2026, which ended on December 27, 2025. In this financial report, Apple disclosed that its revenue for the first quarter was $143.8 billion. This marks a 16 percent increase compared to the same time last year. Regarding profits, the company stated it made a net profit of $42.09 billion. The iPhone 17 series was introduced in September 2025. Tim Cook mentioned to Reuters that the interest in the iPhone 17 was "astonishing. " The Apple CEO noted that iPhone sales exceeded their predictions for the quarter. He added, "The demand for iPhone was simply astonishing, with revenue increasing by 23% compared to last year, making it the biggest quarter in our history. " The company also indicated that it gained market share in December, performing better than Android rivals.
Nevertheless, Tim Cook has suggested that rising RAM costs due to higher demand from AI data centers might affect the company’s profit margins. The sales of the iPhone 17 not only surpassed Apple's expectations but also set new sales records in every area. Tim Cook clarified in the earnings announcement, “The iPhone had its most successful quarter ever due to exceptional demand, achieving record sales in every region. ” According to Apple's report, the total revenue from iPhone sales amounted to $85.27 billion during this time. In the earnings call, Tim Cook mentioned that Apple now has over 2.5 billion active devices worldwide. The Apple CEO proudly highlighted this achievement, saying it reflects the strong customer satisfaction with the company's offerings. He stated, “We are thrilled to share that our number of active devices has surpassed 2.5 billion, which shows incredible customer satisfaction for the best products and services globally. ”
While the iPhone may have been the highlight in Apple's earnings, the company also experienced notable growth in its services division that includes platforms like Apple TV and Apple Music. Tim Cook reported that services experienced a 14 percent increase from the previous year, with recorded revenue of $30.01 billion. Apple plans to introduce AI Siri soon, potentially as early as February. It has teamed up with Google to use Gemini for the next version of Siri. Some reports suggest that it eventually aims to transform Siri into a chatbot.
