US President Donald Trump has revealed a special cash bonus for American military members, referring to it as a "warrior dividend" to acknowledge the dedication and sacrifices of the armed forces. Connecting the payment to the nation’s founding year, Trump mentioned that over 1.45 million military personnel will get $1,776 each before Christmas, calling it a way to honor their service and sacrifices. While speaking to the country on Wednesday (local time), Trump stated, "Because of tariffs, along with the recently passed significant bill, I am happy to share that over 1,450,000 military service members will receive a special payment, which we call the warrior dividend before Christmas, a warrior dividend in celebration of our country's founding in 1776. We are sending out $1,776 to every soldier." He continued, "And the checks are already on their way. We made much more money than anyone expected due to tariffs, and the bill supported us. Nobody deserves it more than our military. I want to congratulate everyone."
Active-duty service members ranked as 0-6 and below who are on active duty as of November 30, 2025, along with reserve components on active-duty orders for 31 days or longer as of November 30, 2025, are qualified for this one-time "Warrior Dividend" payment. On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress met in Philadelphia and officially adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document mostly written by Thomas Jefferson. This declaration stated that the 13 American colonies were separating from British authority, outlining their complaints against King George III and declaring the values of personal freedom and self-rule. At that time, America was made up of 13 colonies - New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. While July 4 is generally celebrated as Independence Day, historians point out that the crucial vote to break away from Britain actually happened two days earlier, on July 2, 1776, when Congress approved a resolution put forth by Virginia representative Richard Henry Lee.

The official signing of the Declaration started on August 2, 1776, and took several months as representatives from different colonies signed it. Eventually, July 4 became a symbolic date representing the founding of the United States and is now celebrated as a national holiday. This historical importance was referenced by US President Donald Trump when he declared a $1,776 "warrior dividend" for military members, connecting the payment to the year the nation was established as a salute to the military. Trump's statements come at a pivotal moment as he works to improve his declining popularity. Public surveys indicate that many Americans are unhappy with how he is managing the economy, especially since inflation has increased after his tariffs led to higher prices and slowed down job growth. He mentioned that he would introduce "some of the most ambitious housing reform proposals in American history," though he did not provide any specifics.
Trump dedicated some of his nationwide speech to highlight his record on immigration, mentioning how he has strengthened border security to block entry for immigrants who are in the US without permission.

He briefly touched on the topic of mass deportation, claiming that his administration is expelling criminals. However, independent studies have demonstrated that individuals without criminal records have also been deported. Trump also discussed efforts to make many of the "most dangerous cities" in the country safer through his tough stance on illegal immigration. While he avoids discussing ongoing inflation issues, he insists that his tariffs are effective and will yield greater advantages soon. He described "tariffs" as "my favorite word," referring to the taxes he has imposed on various imported goods from countries like China, Canada, Mexico, and other trading partners worldwide.
