The South Carolina Republican Representative Mick Mulvaney has been named as the President-elect Donald Trump's budget director. The decision on Mr. Trump’s pick was confirmed by an official on Trump’s transition team.
Mr. Mulvaney will be responsible for crafting Mr. Trump’s budget and overseeing the final issuance of major regulations as director of the Office of Management and Budget.
The 49-year-old, Mulvaney was elected in tea party wave in the 2010. He is a founder of the hard-right House Freedom Caucus, whose members pushed former Speaker John Boehner from power and have caused heartburn for current Speaker Paul Ryan.
Mr. Mulvaney met with president-elect Donald Trump last week in New York .His nomination would require Senate confirmation.
Earlier, Mulvaney said that, “I would love to be the director of (OMB).” “That is where I think REAL improvements could be made in how the government is run.”
