New studies are looking into whether yoga and meditation can help people stop smoking. Atal Medical Research University and Paprola Ayurveda College have started a research project to see how effective these practices might be in assisting individuals with nicotine dependency. It has been suggested that yoga and meditation could serve as extra tools to aid people in overcoming their addiction. This research initiative aims to gather evidence to back these ideas, with the first findings expected in the coming six months. The research will involve two groups: one group will receive only medication, while the other group will receive medication along with yoga and meditation. This setup is meant to assess the important influence yoga and meditation may have on quitting smoking. If the results are favorable, the research might achieve global attention.

The World Health Organization states that nearly 8 million individuals die each year due to diseases caused by smoking, and in India, around 260 million people are impacted by tobacco or smoking addiction. Though many people try to stop smoking, a lot of them fall back into the habit soon after. Experts think that yoga and meditation could help by increasing oxygen in the body, lowering stress levels, and boosting self-discipline, which may help reduce the desire to smoke gradually. Researchers are optimistic that positive findings from this study could lead to a scientifically proven and natural approach to treating smoking addiction in the future.
