Dubai is going to experience some significant changes in April 2026 that will impact banking, education, travel, and residency regulations, as reported by Time Out Dubai. Officials have confirmed that these changes are part of ongoing adjustments in policies across the emirate. News Report mentions that banks in the United Arab Emirates are finishing up the gradual phase-out of one-time passwords that were sent via text and email for high-value transactions. This process started in July 2025, guided by the Central Bank of the UAE, and is now going to be fully carried out. Customers will now need to verify their transactions using their bank’s mobile app instead, which is a more secure method. Historically, OTPs have been used for online purchases and digital transactions, such as shopping and QR payments. Students in Dubai, including those enrolled in public and private schools as well as universities, have been taking classes online for at least two weeks starting March 23.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority has announced that remote learning will carry on until April 3, when students are expected to return to face-to-face classes. Authorities will keep monitoring the situation on a weekly basis. Several international airlines had halted services to Dubai International Airport due to disruptions in the region. However, certain airlines are now planning to restart their services in April. Air France is anticipated to resume flights from April 2, while Turkish Airlines intends to restart operations after pausing flights until the end of March. These plans could change, so travelers are encouraged to check for updates with the airlines. A temporary policy that allowed residents with expired permits to come back to the UAE without needing a new entry permit will end on March 31, 2026. Starting April 1, standard residency regulations will be back in effect, requiring proper documentation for entering the country. These changes show Dubai's ongoing efforts to enhance security systems, bring education and travel back to normal, and simplify residency procedures. Residents and travelers should stay informed and be ready for these upcoming changes.
