A BJP politician who used to be a minister is being called a murderer after a man known for doing illegal things was violently killed outside his house in Bengaluru. The person who died, Shivakumar, also called Biklu Shiva, was attacked right in front of where he lived near Halasuru Lake last night. As he stood outside, a car pulled up with five men who then attacked him with sharp weapons. After badly hurting him, they ran away from the place. Ramesh Banoth, who is a Joint Commissioner of Police, and D Devaraj, who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police, went to the spot after it happened. The police began looking into a murder after Shivu’s mom, Vijayalakshmi, made a report. The report that was made names different people, including Byrathi Basavaraj, who is a BJP politician from Krishnarajapuram and used to be a minister in Karnataka. People are saying that Basavaraj helped with the killing.

It has been discovered that Shivu had sent a letter to the head of the police in Bengaluru about three months before, requesting them to take action against the politician and his helper named Jagadish. Shivu said they were trying to steal his properties. He said that Jagadish and the politician's relative, Kiran, had been telling him they would kill him if he did not give them a piece of land. Shivu mentioned in his letter that even though Jagadish had many cases against him, his name was taken off the list of criminals because the politician was powerful.

“They have also threatened to falsely accuse me of breaking the law so that they can make legal problems for me and stop me from building on or using my land. I have been constantly pushed to sell my property to them for much less money than it is actually worth,” he wrote in the letter. He also said that the politician was stealing lots of land in Bengaluru East by frightening the people who owned it.

“They forcibly take over land and use political power and illegal methods to prevent the rightful owners from getting to or building on their properties. Because they have political power, they have been able to get favors from local government workers and police, who ignore complaints from landowners like me, which helps them steal land. They have also forced government workers to do what they want, making it hard for us to find legal solutions,” he wrote. Shivu asked for immediate safety for himself and his family, and he warned that the politician, Jagadish, Kiran, and their friends would be responsible if anything happened to him.

“With great respect, I am asking you to please tell the local Police Inspector to make a report against Sri Byrathi Basavaraj, Sri Jagadish, also known as Jagga, Sri Kiran, and their partners or gang members for making threats, demanding money, stealing land, illegally entering property, planning illegal acts together, and other crimes,” he said in the letter. According to the police, a case was started against Jagadish because of Shivu's complaint, but a court order has stopped the case for now.
