Apple introduced the second-generation AirTag on Monday. This release comes almost five years after the first version, improving Apple's item-tracking system with better hardware designed to increase accuracy and ease of use. The Bluetooth tracker features a new Ultra Wideband chip that reportedly enhances the Precision Finding range, and a redesigned interior that promises improved speaker performance. The updated AirTag is still powered by a coin cell battery and has an IP67-rated design. In India, the price for a single Apple Second-Generation AirTag is Rs. 3,790, while a pack of four costs Rs. 12,900. Buyers can get free engraving when they order the new AirTag through Apple.com or the Apple Store app. The new AirTag includes improvements aimed at helping users find lost items using Apple's Find My network, while keeping the same small size as the first version. The Bluetooth tracker comes with a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which is said to increase its Precision Finding range by up to 50 percent, allowing users to locate items more effectively.
The Bluetooth chip has been improved to enhance the overall connectivity range. According to the tech company based in Cupertino, users can now utilize Precision Finding on Apple Watch Series 9 or newer and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or newer models to track their AirTag. The second-generation AirTag also comes with a redesigned interior that features a new speaker, which is 50 percent louder than in the previous version. The company asserts that users can now hear their AirTag from nearly twice the distance as before. It also works with the iPhone's Share Item Location function, which helps users retrieve lost items by temporarily and safely sharing their location with trusted people, like airlines. However, the location data is kept confidential, and the AirTag does not save location data or history on the device itself. Other features remain the same as the first generation. The new AirTag uses a CR2032 coin cell battery, offering "over a year" of battery life, and has an IP67 rating for resistance to dust and water. The Bluetooth tracker needs a compatible iPhone running iOS 26 or later, or an iPad with iPadOS 26 or newer.
In addition to the AirTag, Apple also revealed the Apple Watch Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop. The company states it was created to celebrate Black History Month and acknowledge the "power of connection. " This new Apple Watch band, designed by Apple, features the colors of the Pan-African flag. It is made from woven recycled polyester yarn strands intertwined with ultra-thin silicone threads using advanced braiding technology. The Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop can be ordered from the Apple Store online and through the Apple Store app, available today at a price of Rs. 9,500.
