Samsung plans to reveal the Galaxy S26 series, which includes the standard Galaxy S26, the Galaxy S26+, and the high-end Galaxy S26 Ultra, in January next year. While the company has not officially announced an exact launch date, rumors about the Galaxy S26 Ultra are already circulating online. A recent report indicates that Samsung might overcome the fast-charging limits that have restricted its top smartphones for some time. Previous leaks have suggested that the Galaxy S26 Ultra might support charging at 60W. Recently, Android Authority discovered hints during a breakdown of a One UI 8.5 version that support this idea. The programming codes in the software version purportedly refer to 'Super Fast Charging 3.0,' classified under a new Level 4 category, which is one level higher than the 45W Level 3 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The source code does not specifically verify the 60W, but it matches earlier speculations about a major speed upgrade to 60W charging. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Edge support fast charging up to 25W, known as Super Fast Charging. On the other hand, the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra provide speeds of 45W, referred to as Super Fast Charging 2.0. An upgrade to 60W charging would represent a considerable change in Samsung's method for fast charging, as both the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Ultra are limited to 45W wired charging. According to leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will come with a 5,000 mAh battery. It might have a quad-camera setup, led by a main sensor of 200 megapixels. The camera arrangement is rumored to feature a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x zoom, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to have a 6.9-inch M14 QHD+ CoE Dynamic AMOLED display. The screen might achieve a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Samsung could offer the phone in storage sizes of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, along with LPDDR5X RAM. Depending on the region, it may operate with either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip or the Exynos 2600 processor.
