On Tuesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) talked about the T20 World Cup in 2026 during a video call. With less than a month until the tournament starts, there are still uncertainties about whether Bangladesh will take part, as the BCB has asked the ICC to move their group matches from India to Sri Lanka. The representatives from the BCB included President Md Aminul Islam, Vice Presidents Md Shakawath Hossain and Faruque Ahmed, Director and Chair of the Cricket Operations Committee Nazmul Abedeen, and Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, who repeated their request. The BCB again mentioned 'security issues' as the reason for their plea. Ongoing conflicts with India are causing difficult situations for Bangladesh, leading to another significant financial setback, according to a report.

Recently, it was reported that some of Bangladesh’s leading players might lose their sponsorship deals due to the existing political issues with India. After the cricket gear company SG paused sponsorship renewals with key Bangladesh players, another Indian sports brand, Sareen Sports, has also decided not to produce its items in Bangladesh anymore. SG sponsors some of the best batters in Bangladesh, including the current captain Litton Das. As the relationship between India and Bangladesh has worsened, SG has postponed renewing contracts. An Indian business that had its products made in Bangladesh, SS, has stopped using services from the country as well. "Their sponsorship deals were set to be renewed. That process has been delayed because of the increased political and cricketing tensions between India and Bangladesh," a source stated.

"Actually, another major Indian sports equipment company, Sareen Sports Industries (SS), canceled sponsorship deals with four to five top cricketers from Bangladesh last year when issues began in Bangladesh. Yet, this situation could change if relations between the two countries become better," said another source.
