The cricket community was taken aback on Tuesday evening when Mayank Agarwal, the sidelined Indian opener and captain of Karnataka, was rushed to the hospital after falling ill just before his flight to New Delhi was about to depart. Mayank is now considered to be out of danger after mistakenly drinking liquid from a pouch that he believed was water, but was actually placed on his seat by IndiGo Airlines. However, according to a report from PTI, the Indian cricketer has lodged a police complaint through his manager to investigate the incident.

"Mayank Agarwal is an international cricket player. He is currently stable and his vital signs are normal. However, his manager has filed a specific complaint with NCCPS (New Capital Complex Police Station) to look into the matter," said SP West Tripura Kiran Kumar to the news agency. The police officer went on to provide a detailed account of the incident. "According to his manager, when Mayank was seated on the airplane, there was a pouch in front of him. He consumed a small amount, not much, but suddenly experienced irritation in his mouth and lost his ability to speak. He was immediately taken to ILS hospital. He had swelling and ulcers in his mouth.

His condition remains stable. Following his victory over Tripura, Mayank was supposed to travel to Gujarat for his team's next Ranji Trophy match against Railways. However, due to his current condition, he will not be able to participate in the game. Instead, he will be transported to Bengaluru for further treatment.

According to an official from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Mayank is currently under observation at a hospital in Agartala and is not in any immediate danger. They are expecting an update from the doctors tonight and will arrange for his return to Bengaluru accordingly. Mayank has played in 21 Tests for India but lost his spot in the team in 2022 due to inconsistent performances. He was also released by the Punjab Kings franchise before the previous season and later joined Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, his performance with the team was average, scoring 270 runs in ten matches.
