Parineeti Chopra Shuddh Desi Romance Movie Review and Rating
Ensembled in wedding fripperies, a guy bumps into a girl in a bus, both get into a romping conversation and then gets the shock of his life as he sees her light up a cig. A little later, she is stumped as he kisses her unawares. But instead of kicking up a storm, she gawks at him while he changes his seat as the moment turns awkward. This is exactly what “Shuddh Desi Romance” translates into — “Pure Indian Romance” sans any qualms, to be precise.
Barely two movies old, director Maneesh Sharma (of Band Bajaa, Baraat fame) eschews all Bollywood cliches to create a “romantic movie” that doesn’t end up in a big fat wedding, and that, I believe is liberating! To begin with, “Shuddh Desi Romance” is the story of two footloose, altar-phobics who ditch the society's syllabus in a bid to find love by only following their heart.

Story
Raghuram (Sushant Singh Rajput) is a spirited young tourist guide who earns his keeps by fleecing trippers and vacationists, and occasionally stepping in as a paid guest at weddings. He’s quite an allurer, and floors young ladies easily. It’s after attending numerous weddings as a paid guest of course, he suddenly finds roles reversed. Match maker Goel finds the altar-phobic a coy bride. Paranoid, he flees. It's then he stumbles upon the gregarious Gayatri (Parineeti Chopra). He is a flight-risk and her irresistibly affable nature knocks him off. Some pecks and puffs later, the two move in together.
They hookup fast with just one song — a rare thing for a Bollywood rom-com where love blooms only after half a dozen songs. Just like their speedy romance, the lovebirds squabble, split — and patch up with ardor. There is never a dull moment in their relationship, which is a delight to watch. However, the plot attains an interesting twist after the jilted bride Taara (Vaani Kapoor) turns up, resulting in an unusual love triangle.
Analysis :

“Shuddh Desi Romance” will uncannily remind you of the director's previous outing “Band Baaja Baraat”. Only this time, he takes a step back to delve into the world of live-in relationships and how today's youth ditch conventions to find their own happiness, their own way. Full points to the director for doing an out-of-the-world job of bringing alive the “Pink City”. He also does a commendable job of showcasing lust tastefully and packaging affection adorably.

Performance :

Brownie points to the actors of the movie — Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra for essaying their roles with aplomb. They are flawless. The third wheel in this equation, debutant Vaani Kapoor looks a tad bit unconvincing as she tries to avenge the guy who unceremoniously dumped her all moon-eyed.
Final Word:
For anyone who believe that a romantic comedy should end in a wedding, this will come as a welcome break.
